hurricane-matthew-relief-in-virginia-beach-001As a church of neighbors who want more for our community than from our community, it’s time to act to help those impacted by Hurricane Matthew in Virginia Beach.

In fact, we have a “responsability” to help our neighbors regardless of their religious, political, or any other viewpoint they may hold to.

Here are three ways you can help right now.

SUPPLIES

From the official Facebook page for the city of Virginia Beach:

Community Recovery Center to be Open Wednesday, Oct. 19, 3 to 7 p.m.

The city will continue to operate a community recovery center at Bow Creek Community Recreation Center, 3427 Club House Road, on Wednesday, Oct. 19, from 3 to 7 p.m. Additional dates and times to be determined. Call (757) 385-3111 for the latest information.

Residents who were affected by Hurricane Matthew are reminded and encouraged to go to the recovery center to obtain services. If you have questions, call (757) 385-3111 for information.

VOLUNTEER

Operation Blessing is coordinating volunteers aged 18 and older to help in Virginia Beach.

Arrive at 8:00 am for registration at Christian Broadcasting Network (CBN) – address below. Orientation begins at 8:30 a.m. and teams will be dispatched from there. Operation Blessing will provide all the items you need – work assignments, tools, safety equipment (even gloves), and lunch. All they ask is that you provide your own transportation to/from the work sites.

No reservations are needed for daily volunteers.

Volunteers will be helping our Virginia Beach neighbors impacted by Hurricane Matthew gut houses that flooded. They’ll remove flooded carpet, sheet rock, debris, furniture, etc. and relocate to the curb for pick up.

If you have any questions, call Operation Blessing at 757-226-3407.
